Doctorante en science politique

My name is Nedima Krndžija, Goražde born, Sarajevo shaped, Bordeaux refining. I am 28, originally from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and now a cotutelle PhD student who clearly took "international relations" quite literally by studying in two countries at once.

For my bachelor’s degree, I studied English Language and Literature, and later decided to shift fields by pursuing a master’s in International Relations and European Studies. Alongside my studies, I began working in the International Relations Office, where I handled international cooperation, mobility programmes, and university partnerships, work that I continue to do today. I have also taken part in a range of EU-funded, national, and local projects. Being based at a university and constantly surrounded by policy discussions and institutional decision-making naturally pulled me deeper into the world of politics. This mix of academic training and hands-on experience sparked my curiosity about how institutions operate, communicate, and shape broader political processes, ultimately guiding me toward my current research path.

My thesis looks at how international crisis-management structures in Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly the Office of the High Representative and the EU Special Representative, interact with the country’s path toward EU membership. As someone who works in an international environment and sees daily what the EU can offer, while also following political debates at home, I became interested in how these external and domestic layers influence each other. With Bosnia and Herzegovina now holding EU candidate status, this relationship becomes even more relevant. Within the project, I focus on three thematic areas that reveal these tensions most clearly: anti-corruption, rule of law, and migration. By examining how different actors approach these topics, I aim to show where their efforts align, where they clash, and how these dynamics shape the country’s overall progress toward the EU.
